PRIVATE FLIGHTS & CHARTERS
Frequently Asked Questions

PRIVATE FLIGHTS & CHARTERS

The US Department of Transportation defines a charter flight as "a flight that is not part of an airline’s published schedule". There are several types of charters, from ones where individual seats are available to those where the you can book an entire plane.

Private flights can save you time in several ways:

  • Flying instead of driving can save an average of 6-8 hours on many routes.
  • You can arrive at the airport minutes before your flight, instead of having to get to an airport 3-5 hours early.
  • Private terminals means no long lines waiting to get through security without having to wait to retrieve your luggage.

Our prices start at levels comparable to business-class airline fares – and can be even less than coach on some routes. Flight costs vary depending on the type of plane, distance, number of passengers, any additional service, such as catering, as well as whether the flight is same-day round trip or multi-day.

Some ways to lower your costs:

  • Choose a propeller aircraft over a jet
  • Schedule same-day round-trip travel
  • Bring travel companions. Since it’s your own plane, your average cost per passenger is lowest when you bring a friend or colleague!

RESERVATIONS & BOOKING

Just enter your itinerary and dates, and we’ll show Air Taxi and Jet options that match your trip.

A big difference is that we show you airport options so you can choose the ones that are most convenient and closest to where you’re leaving from and going to.

Another advantage is that some airports can even have lower prices than others.

See our How It Works page to learn more.

This varies depending on the type and size of the plane, and we offer aircraft that can carry as few as 1 and as many as 15.

Flying private means you don’t have to get to the airport hours before your flight. You can even drive right up to the private terminal, and arrive minutes before your flight.

Parking is free with Linear Air!

There will be free parking for you at the FBO, and depending on the facility, it may even be valet. You may need to provide your Tail Number to a gate attendant when you arrive.

The Tail Number is the registration number of your aircraft and can be found on your Linear Air confirmation email.

Flying private with us means you can avoid major airline terminals and their crowds.

Our flights depart from FBOs (Fixed Base Operators), which are executive terminals where General Aviation flights (aka private planes) depart. At major airports, the FBOs are usually at a separate (and uncrowded) section of the airport than where the commercial flights depart. As such, please refer to your Linear Air confirmation for the name and address of your FBO.

When you enter the FBO, let the attendant at the front desk know that you are checking in for a Linear Air flight and the tail number of your plane. Your pilot will then meet you there shortly and accompany you to the aircraft.

The Chief Pilot and Captain of your flight continuously monitor the weather right up to the time of your departure. If they see any reason to cancel or delay your flight, they will communicate that to the Linear Air Customer Service team who will then personally contact you. If your flight cannot take off or fly safely, you will be refunded in full.

If you decide to cancel your flight and it’s outside of 48 hours of your departure time, the full cost of your trip will be put on account toward your next flight with us. If you cancel within 48 and 24 hours of departure time, 50% of your trip price will be put back on account toward a future flight. If you cancel within 24 hours of your departure time, you forfeit the entire cost of the flight.

Please see our complete Terms and Conditions.

Minor changes such as moving your departure up or back an hour or two can be typically accommodated without a change in price. However, it may not be always possible to reschedule, or to reschedule without cost to you, given other flights scheduled. We will do our best to accommodate you should the schedule allow for it.

However, once your trip is booked, any changes resulting in a cancellation of a flight on a particular date are subject to the terms of our cancellation policy.
